Christmas Bells Are Ringing!!!

So it's a week from Christmas and I have bought no gifts...I'm a poor from my trip to Maine and have no money. But then again I can still get away with the "my mom bought the present for my dad, but say it's from me" still, so I think I'm covered.

Someone's happy for Christmas...my niece, Layla.
All in all this year has been an interesting one.

January-May was my focus on school and work. I wasn't in theatre at Marymount because it was going to be WAY too much work and plus I'd rather make money at my job, then work with John Lane again...I will NEVER work with that man again. All in all school turned out ok. It was better for me not to the spring show. I ended up doing pretty well in the end and am happy to have been able to walk at graduation even if I still have yet to get my AA.

June-September was spent first on jury duty for 3 weeks in June. That was a interesting time as being yet again being the youngest person (ringing any bells...Maine) on the jury. I thought it was a fun time, plus I got paid. July and August was suppose to be my time to figure out where and what I was going to do for school. I ended up not going to school in the fall and have been at my mom's work ever since.

October was my month in Maine. What started out as a 17 day trip to help out with the No on 1 campaign turned into a month long trip (with 5 days being home) that showed me how to work in a campaign and also get some new friends that are family to me. (Look at previous posts for more!)

November and now December have seen me back at home trying to find out what I'm going to do for school next year. I only applied to one school *fingers crossed* and am probably not going to go to school again for the Spring semester, so now I have to find a job...yet to get one or hear from anywhere that I put an application into.

So I'm hoping that the new year is a better one. xoxox

Be Thankful

So I know this is a couple days late, but here's the Thanksgiving day blog.

What I am thankful for:

This year the biggest thing I'm thankful for is my new family I made when I was in Maine. While in Maine I met some pretty awesome people who I wouldn't have met if I didn't go to Maine last month. Every single person I met there changed my life in some way. These few people that I mention are only the few that I met and love to death.

Ryan: After only knowing each other for less then 4 days he let me stay with him for the last 2 weeks of the campaign. Yes in the end we had a disagreement and I was kicked out on my last night in Maine, but now we're friends again. I dearly love him and hope to see him soon. Plus who doesn't love a cute gay boy that lets you stay in his home and pretty much into his life for 2 weeks?

Chris O'Connor: When I talk about him I say that he was "my dad" while in Maine. He made sure I was ok when we together and always watched out for me. He's not the only one who watched out for me, but he's the one who I say made sure I was where I needed to be and had a way to get home.

Matt Moonen: Um, well since he is King Matthew, I guess I should talk about him. Kidding...Going to lunch to just hanging out in his office we had a blast. Stealing purple smelly markers for him was a personal past time that was fun. Plus who else could I paint the town purple with? Did I mention the color purple?

Travis: My little brother...yes at first I didn't like him, but once I got over it we ended up being close friends. Probably because we were the youngest two (should have been on staff) super vols (super volunteers) so we were always together when the staff would go out. When he was gone it didn't feel right. Not having him there so I had someone to talk to was hard. Luckily we talk to each other at least once a week, so I'm not so upset that he's not around all the time now.

(Data) Patrick: One of the three Patricks that were in Maine with me, but the only one who can pull off wearing orange. He's the only person who's allowed to read my blog because I know he wont go around telling everyone what I had written about the campaign. Not that anything bad was written on here, it's just these are my personal thoughts about what was going on during the campaign and some of the stuff was embarrassing.

And finally:

Chuck: What can I say about Chuck? That I love him forever? That he's the one person I truly couldn't wait to see again when I went back to Maine? That even if we haven't talked in weeks and no matter how mad I am at him for not calling me all he has to do is write a quick message on my facebook and he's forgiven? Yes, Yes, and Yes. He knows how much I love him and that he's the first person I called when I got back to Maine. He was also the one person that when ever a bunch of us would go out I had to seat with him or I'd not be happy.

Now these aren't the only people that I'm thankful for, but only a handful of people that I met and love dearly. From the people who adopted me (Nate, Julie, and Miguel) to all the San Diego people (Tres, Gaby, Matt, Kevin, and everyone else) I am thankful for being each and everyone of them.

Now I just have to find a way to go visit all of them throughout the year.

22 Hours and counting

We're offically not using days left until election day, we're not on hours!!! There are still loads of people in the office and I'm still here...not able to leave because Ryan is now Dan's bitch for the night. *SIGH* I'm not really tired, but I do wish I had some clean clothes with me. I DO NOT want to do stuff tomorrow with the same clothes I wore today.

Well the weekend was busy because we started our GOTV (Get Out The Vote) for the final 4 days of the campaign. We're getting to the office at 7AM and leaving way to late at night...well not me. I made sure I went home to get sleep because without sleep I WOULD not be having a good day. So people were always really mad because I left when I had to. I was not about to stay all night to do stuff that Andy (not Ben) should be doing. Don't get me started on him.

Anyway Saturday I got to the office at 7:15AM because Ryan had work at 7 and Chris (Ryan's somewhat boyfriend) brought me to the office. Saturday night I had a night in with Justin (Ryan's roommate) and we watched I Didn't Know I was Pregnant. We laughed because one of the episodes was called "Is That a Baby in Your Pants?" I went to bed at my normal time. Ryan ended up not coming home until noon on Sunday and I ended up not spending much time in the ofice. Well, I had to stay while Ryan and Chris left to get ready for the rally we had on Monday.

Monday I was on campus recuitment, which I was so not happy about until I found out that Chuck and Patrick were going to be doing it with us. I ended up going to campus with Patrick because I was mad at Chuck (for something that happened, but he apologized). I had a blast doing campus stuff all day and Ayari was so happy with me that she gave me the Milk poster that she had promised me before I left! I can't wait to put it up on my wall at home.

Tuesday's the big day! Polls are tied and we're getting all the votes that we can. I'll be in the office at 6AM (probably earlier because of Ryan) and I'll be on campus. I'll keep you posted!

Who split the Turf?

It's only 4 days to go before election day and it's getting crazy! I've been spliting turf (the different places we're going to canvass the next 4 days) all day. They even put me as the lead person. Well after Laura and Andy, but still that's cool that I'm the one people go to since Andy and Laura are wicked busy today.

The down side to this whole day is that I'm about to call asleep. I stayed with Chuck last night at his supporter housing because he didn't want to take me home. So we had a late night anyway because we were talking forever about his ex-boyfriend, who's his boyfriend again. (It's complicated) and then we were laughing about our little inside jokes.

So this morning I got to come to the office with the clothes I wore the day before...ewww...and to top it off Ryan ended up not coming in until he had to go to work because he was up until 530 this morning and all that other fun stuff. So I was sitting around tired and smelly not having that Ryan couldn't get his butt up to get my new clothes...well he ended up pulling through and brought me my clothes so I feel so much better now. I just hope tonight is an early night because it's going to be a long day tomorrow...which reminds me that Ryan isn't gong to bring me to the office and I need to figure out who's bringing me to the office.

All in all today's been one of those days where I'm ready to pass out and I'm so ready to be done with this whole thing.

Back in Action

I'm back in Maine and back writing the blog. I can't believe how much has changed in such a short amount of time. It's like a totally different office now. There are tons of people here. And more are still to come.

I got in Tuesday night and the first person I talked to was Chuck. I've missed my boys. I was going to see them on Tuesday night, but ended up not because Ryan and I were sleeping on our feet. I don't even know how we got home. Speaking of homes, Ryan's place is totally nice. I love it. Plus his roommate, Justin, is really nice. The three of us are going to get along great.

I'm happy to report that Ryan and I are going to the office together, which works out great because I get to the office and he does his work before going to his real job. Then he and I will be meeting up again at the office when he's off work.

Last night while I was waiting for Ryan to finish up talking to Chris guess who just happens to come into the office...CHUCK AND PATRICK!!! I was over the moon when I finally got to see them because it was a week since I'd seen both of them. I'd talked to Chuck Chuck ended up stealing my ring. (The one that I wear on my left ring finger) He said that he's gonna wear it until the end of the campaign. I said if he loses it that I'll windmill kick him in the face.

So after I sadly, had to leave my boys Ryan and I got home to finally sleep and get ready for today. We were an hour behind in our "sleep schedule" and I was ready to get to bed...which ended up with Ryan in his room slicing his finger open because he broke a glass...OW! Luckily he's ok, but he says his finger still hurts. :(

Now I'm doing the hide out in Matt's office, so I don't have to do anything right now. I've been trying to write on my blog for 2 days now. Hopefully in 5 days there will something great to report...like that we won!!! *fingers crossed*.

Last Day

It's my last day in Maine and I'm sad. I've had a fun time being here and meeting new people. I've made so many new friends that I don't know what to do with myself. Of course I'll be in contact with everyone when I can, but I don't want to leave. Thanks to facebook I can stay in close contact with everyone when we're all done with the campaign.

But the two people I'll miss most while I'm in CA are Chuck and Patrick. As mom knows they love me and totally think I'm adorable. Since getting on the paid canvassing team I don't get to see them during the day which always makes me sad. But then we get to go out at night, which is always fun. I can't wait to get to hang out with them when we're back in CA. We're already planning on going to Angel games next year. (Side note: Come on Angels beat those damn Yankees!)

So right now I'm waiting to make sure I'm not doing anything tonight, which really is what I've been doing all day. Duncan doesn't need my help because he's got like five other ladies working on the phone calls. I happy, but at the same time bored because I want to do something. I guess I could check to see if there's any data that could be done.

Oh I almost forgot about my phone bank last night. It was really fun. Probably because I got to spend time with Ryan. :) He's so nice to me. I must say that phone banking was interesting. I felt like a telemarketer in my own little cubical and head set. i even had a lady tell me I was cute on the phone. Probably because I sound like a little kid when I'm on the phone, but hey that was nice of her to say.

All in all the in Maine has been fun and when I get home it's gonna be depressing without seeing my boys and everyone everyday.

Bite Hard

Ok, so that title comes from a song by Franz Fredinand. I couldn't think of a title, so I use the song I was listening to.

So today was pretty much the same without Ryan. :( I was texting him throughout the day though, so it was all good. Here's a picture of him.

He's just so cute and nice...ok I talked him yesterday, so there's nothing much to say.

Last night I got to go out with Chuck and Patrick...like the past two nights. We went to dinner at our favorite place, Burger King, and then went out to put signs up. THey do the sign putting up. I sit in the car. I don't like to go out at night.

Now I get to go hang with Ryan and phonebank. Later Gator!

Weekend and Monday

The weekend was filled with mostly nothing. It was weird because usually we're like "Where'd the weekend go?" But this weekend it was more, "When's the weekend going to end?" At least for me.

Friday night I got to go with the campus recruitment team to watch Milk at USM. I got to watch the movie, which is always fun and then we did a Q&A, which wasn't much of anything because people left right after the teacher who was doing it asked if anyone had any questions. The coolest part is that we have 5 original posters from the movie and I'm getting one!

Saturday and Sunday were slow days of sitting in Matt's office and doing nothing. We get some new volunteer vacationers. There's a million people in the office now...ok not really, but there are ALOT more people here now then there was last week. One of them, Kendal, is my new friend. He's from Venezuela and lives in New York. And he's starting to fill that void of Chuck and Patrick not being in the office since they are now on the paid canvassing team.

Today though I met Ryan...dreamy, dreamy Ryan. So sweet and we were rocking out to Mika while we were talking to people on the phone. He said that I can stay with him. I'm trying to get Ryan and Andy (not Ben) together...no luck so far. I'm facebook chatting with Andy right now. He's really nice and I'm trying to come off "the list".

It's the Thought that counts

So while I have some free time right now, here's the blog for the day. I've been doing calls again, like everyday this week, for Duncan. Not much going on in the way of that. Lots of people don't pick up the phone, so it's making Duncan mad.

Now for the fun stuff that happens when I'm in Matt's office. Molly and I have taken to messing with Matt. While he's away we do things to his office. This all started on Wednesday.

We were sitting in his office while Matt was out and about in the main office, so we took his sandals and hide them in a box in his office. It was a late night for Molly and I so we got to see Matt look for his sandals. He couldn't find them, so he went around the office looking for them. Molly and I took them out of the box and put them back under his desk before he came back. He came back in and looked under his desk and was like, "Oh, they've been here the whole time." We were like, "Oh, ok." He left and we started laughing as soon as he was gone.

Yesterday, we took his two groom rubber duckies and put in Jenn's office and we took her two bride rubber duckies and put them in his office. Jenn got her ducks while we were out, but was still holding hostage to one of Matt's ducks. I got it while she wasn't looking and gave it back to him. Molly and I were playing it cool while Jenn was trying to get Matt to confess that he was the one who switched the ducks.

So now today's joke was with the picture from yesterday. Matt's moving, so he hasn't been in the office all day...well except for those like 3 seconds he was here then left again. Anyway, I printed out the picture that I took of him when he was sleeping in the car and put it up on the wall over his computer. I put a little thought bubble over his head and it says "Mmm...KFC." Hopefully he'll be back some time today so he can see it. He'll know it was me, but hey what can I say...I love messing with him.

Sleepy Town

I was in Lewiston pretty much all day at bates College. Nice college, but I don't want to back anytime soon. Now I'm sitting in the office while Duncan and couple boys call people for canvassing and phone banking.

So my time at Bates was spent trying to get the students to go out and vote early. The great thing about Maine and voting is that you can register and vote the same day. Also that you can do an absentee ballot for any reason. Another way to go vote is to go in person to the town hall. You go in vote and leave. Then there's election day where you go to your polling place blah, blah...

Anyway we were trying to get the students to get out and vote. We only got 11 people to go today, but about 170 of them will be with us on Tuesday...I doubt that many will show up.

So on the way home Matt fell alseep. Here's the picture:

All in all it was quite a day. I'm about to fall asleep myself.

Wednesday, 14 October 2009

Today's Wednesday yeah?

So I've officially not been able to remember what day of the week it is anymore. I've only been going by the count down on the wall as what day it is. So today it's 20 days until election day!!! So really if it's Thursday tomorrow I have no clue.

Today was pretty much the same as yesterday. Calling people and helping Duncan out. We had three other guys helping us so I wasn't on the phone all day like I was yesterday. I was more of just supervising over the others, which I was more then happy to do. My BIG task for the day was that Duncan was gone for about an hour and half and he had me in charge of the conformation call team. Yes, me. Luckily it was quite easy and I made sure to ask him as many questions as I could before he left.

Also today I got to see my California boys, Patrick and Chuck, who were doing more IPVR. (If you can't remember what that is, look it up in yesterday's blog.) Anyway I found out that Chuck is a dental student at USC and knew my orthodontist! Who knew?! I found this out from having to call him a million times for Shaun because Shaun needed some campaign cell phones to be taken to Gorham for Duncan and he wanted Patrick and Chuck to take them there. Unfortunately they never picked up so I had to get someone else to take them.

Right now we have a bunch of house and senate people from Maine outside in the big part of the office making calls to get people to donate to the campaign. It's crazy! They're rocking it though. I've been sitting in Matt's office for a couple of hours so I don't know how much money they have, but I know they're making lots of calls and getting lots of money.

So now I much so back to make calls for Duncan. Until day 19 before election day, this is Ashley...xoxo

Duncan's Assistant

Yes, that's right, I've become Duncan's call bitch today. Ok the nicer way of saying that is Duncan's assistant for the day. I just think bitch is so much better. So basically my job is to call people all day to confirm that they'll be with us today or tomorrow at our phone banks. Luckily we got a couple more people to help us because my voice is giving out.

So really not much to say today except that I've been on the phone ALL DAY and have been trying to make Duncan's life easier. I've even trained a couple of people for him today because I'm now his assistant. But I must say I'm not complaining because I think he's totally cute and I like working with him. I think I might have to break up with Matt and be with Duncan full time for the rest of the time I'm here.

Also another thing I'm trying to do is get back here so that I can help out some more. I love it here and I've some really great friends here. Plus my boys, Chuck and Patrick, will be road tripping back to California when this is over. So mom, can I come back??? Love you!

I guess that's all for now. Not much else going on.

Manic Monday

Another day, another blog.

So today we were late to the morning meeting. Luckily, Dan wasn't upset and he carried on along with what we were doing. It was a weird day as Matt wasn't here for pretty much the whole day and we were on our own.

Matt got here while I was doing something for baby bear aka Evan. I was putting together packets for him and Matt just walked in like he wasn't late at all. I've been giving him a hard time since he came in. :)

The good part about him not being here was the fact I got to hang with the straight boy, Duncan, for the day. I made calls(!) to people for the morning. I even got a guy to donate some money. My first donation! I've also got Duncan's number memorized since I was given it to people all day.

Another thing that happened actually last night, but I didn't write about it is I've been adopted. Julie is now my mom, Miguel is my dad, and Shaun is my uncle on Julie's side. So now I've got new moms (Julie and her wife Melissa) and two new dads (Miguel and his husband Robert). Plus I'm getting "married" to Chuck from the Inland Empire. Now that's big gay family!

All in all I haven't had a big day, but it's been a fun one.

Weekend Fun.

This is really Sunday night, but I finished what I needed to do so I can write and have this done by Monday morning.

This weekend has been fun...kind of. Saturday was not a fun day until the afternoon.

Friday night was our dinner with Michael and Bill, who are the sweetest couple. I thought they were totally sweet and had great senses of humor. I being the youngest one had the best time because they don't expend me to know much, but since I've got my "two cents" I could talk it up with them. The best part of dinner was getting to sit next to Matt(!) and because it was such a small booth we were pretty much sitting on each other.

So Saturday they had a group of us (Molly, Julie, (Super) Alice, Johann, Gregory, and me) go to Pikes Island. It's like Catalina basically, but for Maine. We took a ferry out to the Island about 10AM. When we got there, there were 6 of us canvassing. (Really door knocking for people on our list.) I was sent with Molly. Ok, fine with that. Until the dreaded walk...I hated walking around the Island because of 1) the hills, 2) you couldn't find the houses on the list, and 3) the roads weren't marked. So I did it until about 1PM. By then I had blisters on my feet and was not wanting to go out by myself on the island to find these random, numberless houses. So Molly let me go back to the ferry terminal and wait for the rest of the group to get there. We left the island at 2:45 and got back to the office around 4. We had stopped for food first because we were starving.

I so am not going canvassing next week. I didn't have a good time and doing it again might actually kill me. Anyway I don't have to do it again anyway because Jenn told me I don't have to. :D

Today...Sunday was a slow day as we had a group of new people coming in and they had an orientation. There are a few people from CA here and I love them already. Chuck and Patrick are from the Inland Empire and totally cute. I already told Chuck I'm going to marry him. They are really cute and I love them to death already. I'll be sad when I have to leave them, but I'll try to keep in contact with them when this is all over.

All in all the weekend was fun. I can't wait for this weeks adventures.

Data, Data, Data

I've been doing Data all. day. long. It's been a lot of work, but it has to get done. I'm sitting here waiting for our canvessing training. I get to go to Pikes Island tomorrow to go "door knocking" (canvessing).

I got to talk to Dan last night and he said that I could go up to Augusta, ME (not Georgia) and help them do stuff at the college there. It would mean that I would get new housing and I wouldn't be with the people in Portand anymore. Today I haven't heard anything, so I don't know if I'll be moving or not. We'll just to wait and see.

Tonight I get to go out to dinner with Julie, Molly, Matt, Bill and Michael. Bill writes for Daily Kos, a online news blog, that Julie reads, so she started talking to him and well now we get to go to dinner. Here's a link to his blog from yesterday: http://bill-in-portland-maine.dailykos.com/

We also started a little book for everyone to put their info in so we can all keep in contact after we're done here. I've alrady written in it and have put a list of random things around the office. Here's the list.

1) Matt's office was freezing (ALL the time)
2) Dan's a little bit country (he has the shirt to prove it)
3) Brandon is a little bit rock 'n' roll.
4) Evan and I have the same shoes.
5) There was always apples. (And other fun food)
6) Flips charts are fun.
7) Duncan what's the weather?
8) Orange is NO ones color...except for Patrick.
9) Alice can get 20 people to sign up to help with the campaign, while you can only get maybe 5.

There will be more added to the list as the days go on, but for now that's all. I think that's it for now have a great weekend.

Team SoPo!

Greetings from Maine. I hope everything is well in the merry land of oz...oh wait wrong place. I meant CA.

Well I've been here for 3 days now and it's been raining, windy, cold, windy, cold...and cold. Well I guess I can't complain too much, it's only really cold because of the wind. Lots of wind. Other then that I can't be mad since I'm in doors most days and I've made friends with a few people.

My first day for the campaign was yesterday where I ended up getting lost in the rain and had to call the lady, Ariel, to come get me. I was so embarrassed, but I made it to the office in one piece, even if I was a little wet and my uggs looked out of place. Everyone was wearing regular shoes and jackets, while I was in a thermal, t-shirt, 2 jackets, gloves, and uggs. I was embarrassed by that too. Anyway, there were 2 other people, Julie and Molly, who were new too. We went to an orientation about the campaign and Maine, then we got to work.

For about an 1 1/2 we did data entry, which was easy and we got alot done. They let us go to lunch, which was an adventure. Molly and I were trying to find a place to eat on the map they gave us, but we ended up at some other place that had coffee and lunch. Lunch wasn't good. I got a lamb and rice plate, yet they put ginger in the rice (gross) and curry(?) powder on the lamb and rice. I didn't eat much, so I was really hungry by dinner time.

After Lunch we met with our team leader, Matt, to talk about what we'd be doing with him. He's doing satellite phone banks. This means that you and friends/family can help us call Maine voters from home. We've been in contact with a few organizations and colleges to help our. Yale and Harvard have a competition going to see how many people they can get to help out.

I was grabbed from Matt last night to help out with a "dorm storm". We went to one of the colleges in Portland to get people to sign up to help us out with phone banking in Portland. We got held up in the beginning by an RA who was on our side, but she had word from the "higher ups" that we weren't allowed to go in the dorm hall. Make a long story short, we ended up getting into the dorm and signing up 14 people to help out. I found out after we did the "dorm storm" that it was the first time they had done it, so we talked about what to do next time and how to make it better. I had fun...and mom I drove with a leader of the campus campaign, so no worries that I was randomly in cars with people...We saw a sign on the way back that said "So Portland" which really means South Portland, but I could just see some valley girl in CA going "That's SO Portland."

After we closed the office with a night meeting (they have them every night) about 15 of us went to J's Oyster bar. They let us go there and have lobster. I didn't have any since I didn't want to waste $24 on some lobster. I had a blast and got to sit next to one of the head guys, Dan. He reminded me of Dr. Draper, so that was nice to get to talk to him.

Today has been uneventful. I'm just sitting here waiting to do something. Matt has left to do...well I don't know, but he went to do something and they stole me earlier this morning to help Evan, who has the same dog shoes (the slip on ones) that I do! According to him we're the coolest people here.

Nick Adams vs. Turtle Bay

This is Nick Adams (Guys and Dolls, A Chorus Line ) account of what happened to him at the Turtle Bay.

Turtle Gay

So this past week, at a friend's suggestion, I attempted to attend Turtle Bay on the east side of Manhattan. It's a standard bar with cheap drink specials, so I thought I would check it out along with my boy friend and my best friend.

As I approached the door, the bouncer looked me up and down, looked at my boyfriend then smirked and refused us entry to the bar. When asked why we couldn't go in he said it was because we were wearing white shirts and gave a laugh. We moved out of line, then watched a group of straight guys in white tshirts enter the bar. I was furious and decided not to cause a scene but to Twitter and facebook about it instead.

Well... Thanks to my loyal fans and followers... Tons of people reposted and voiced their complaints to turtle bay. I received an email from the head of PR from the bar expressing their apologies for the "misconception." I understand she was doing her job and being polite, but she tried to spin it so Turtle Bay came out in a positive light.

Bottom line, I was discriminated against. I will not give my business to Turtle Bay and I urge you to do the same. This womans attempt to brush this aside as a misunderstanding is disingenuous at best if not hurtful and offensive to myself and the gay community of New York City.

If they are serious about remedying the situation, they would immediately remove the bouncer as an employee of the establishment.

Thank you to all my friends, fans and followers who came together in support. They screwed with the wrong gay.
------------------------------------

If you live in New York or are planning to go to New York please DO NOT go to Turtle Bay.

Blah, Blah, Blah

So here's what the week I was born on says about me: (It's so true!)

The Week of Acceptance – Aquarius 3 February 8-15
You are a champion of the underdog. You despise intolerance and unfair treatment in any form. You dislike people who pretend to be something they are not and often ‘poke holes’ in other people’s balloons. You have a low self image and you have bursts of anger that usually do not last long. You are a resourceful individual and rarely at loss for new ideas. You are your own worse enemy. You love activity and movement. You are easily affected by what others say and do and a wrong look could easily ruin your whole day. You are abundant in humor, irony, and wit. You like to make plans for the future. You crave love and are extremely affectionate but are rarely able to find the right person. You are not easily satisfied and often bored; you have a great need for attention. Strengths: Lively – Inventive – Affectionate Weaknesses: Irritated – Vulnerable – Needy

Dustin Lance Black's statement

Good For Dustin. He's fighting back and I applaud him for it.

Dustin Lance Black's statement:

"It is unfortunate that individuals and other outside parties are trying to profit from material which is clearly private. I have had the privilege to speak to people across the country, both gay and straight, on a number of critical issues including safe sex. More important than the embarrassment of this incident is the misleading message these images send. I apologize and cannot emphasize enough the importance of responsible sexual practices."

Still Love him!

Dustin Lance Black may have pictures of him having sex (bareback) and giving oral sex to a guy leaked onto the internet, but I still love him. He is one of the best screen writers of our generation and I support him 100%. I don't know him, but I think he's a great guy.

It's been a year...

It's been a year since I started this blog! Wow I can't believe it. Well since it's been a year, then you know that it's been a year since the Tony Awards! I was super excited this year as 1) Neil Patrick Harris was hosting, 2) Billy Elliot was nominated (and won 10 Tonys!), and 3) I finally discovered the awesome Gavin Creel.

This year at the Tony's was a first as the boys playing Billy in Billy Elliot were all nominated for one Tony for Best Actor in a Musical. They won!!! And it was the cutest thing. Congrads to David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik, and Kiril Kulish!

So here's some video from the Tonys!

The opening:

West Side Story:

Hair (with Gavin Creel!):

And last, but not least Shrek the Musical (with Chris Sieber playing Lord Farquaad):

Dear New Hampshire

Dear New Hampshire,

Congratulations! You have just become the sixth state to allow gay marriage. I must saw I'm very happy for you. You are now the latest state to finally figure out that gay marriage isn't all that bad.

Now maybe you can kick some sense into California?

From,
Ashley

Dear Califonia Supreme Court

Dear California Supreme Court and Yes on 8 supporters,

Thank you for making a group of people feel like second-class citizens. I really think that is the way to go since, you know, California is so "progressive".

I know that saying 'Yes on 8' is "protecting" the children from GLBTQ (that's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning) men and women. Yes, because if Gay and Lesbian men and women can get married the children will be so upset. If we had gay marriage then the children will be gay? Have you guys been smoking crack? Seriously, Gay and Lesbians aren't brainwashing the children...it YOU! The Yes on 8 supporters who thinks that if we have gay marriage, then the children aren't protected. But really who's making Gay and Lesbian children? Not GLBTQ parents and people, it's the staright parents. Being Gay is how you were born, not something you learn.

So I guess this is all coming back to children. So I should thank you guys for "protecting the children".

BUT you know what? I'm not thanking you. I'm saying F**K YOU for letting a group of people be second-class citzens and making California so UNprogessive.

Sincerly,
Ashley

P.S. Look what 100s of thousands of people can do and believe.

California Ruling

If California is so progressive then why can't we have marriage equality? 18,000 couples were married before Prop 8 came...and now? No Gay or Lesbian couples can get married in California. In 5 other states they can, but if you live in California? Nope, sorry you can't.

So Thank you California Supreme Court for making a group of people not have the same rights as everyone else. As a supporter of "No on 8" I WILL NOT STOP FIGHTING UNTIL IN EVERY STATE EVERYONE CAN GET MARRIED.

Ethan McNamee

Ethan McNamee is only 9, but he is already fighting for gay marriage. His neighbors (a lesbian couple) are the ones who inspired him to fight for gay marriage. He got a rally together on the steps of the Colorado Capitol and gave a amazing speech. Way to go Ethan!

The Gathering Storm

By a show of hands how many of you have seen the commerical "The Gathering Storm"? If not, it's a commerical about people who are taking a stand against gay marriage becoming legal.

Here's the spoof:

And for extra fun here's the audition video for "The Gathering Storm" spoof:

The Big Yellow one's the sun!

I haven't updated in a month!

Anyway my cousin's team won! I got to go to the game and it was the best game I'd seen in a while. It went into triple overtime with a shoot out. It was very nerve wreaking to watch, but it was probably one of the best things to see. My cousin's wife was ready to pop out their baby, but she didn't until a couple of days later. It was a girl.

Also waiting around of colleges I applied to, to send me a letter. I've gotten one so far and was denied because of one class. It was quite stupid and it became a really bad week after that. I've got my fingers crossed about the other colleges. If not I'm moving to London and becoming a British citizen.

Well that's the quick and painless version of what's going on...until next time you stay classy San Diego.

Fruit Flies

Oh of my favorite vlogs is Daniel Leary's Mores for Gays. Yes it's really for gay men, but I still watch it. This past weeks video was about gay men and their staright best girl friends...hmmm...Will & Grace anyone? Well he has a fun and interesting guest on his vlog to tell about "fruit flies".

He grabbed it with two hands...

So it's Feburary, which means it's my birthday this month! Ok, so it's Saturday to be exact. I'm going to be 20 and not a teenager anymore. Wow, I can't believe it sometimes. I was just getting use to being 19 and not I'm going into a whole new age group.

Anyway aside from my birthday...

I got to see the first perview of the new show, The Jazz Age with Luke MacFarlane aka Scotty from the show Brothers & Sisters. It was about F. Scott Fitzgerald, his wife, and his friend (and also author) Ernst Hemingway. The show was great. Not only because I got to see Luke (because he is one of the best actors in my generation) but the whole cast (of 3) was so well casted. I thought everyone did a great job. There were a few times when there was a mess up of a line, but nothing too major. I thought the show should go to the great white way (broadway).

Here's an article about the show:

Winter Break

Ok, so I don't really write on here since I got back from London. But I'm just writing about what's been happening on my winter break from school.

NOTHING! Nothings been happening since I've been on break from school for the past 4 1/2 weeks. It's boring and I'd rather be in school (and work) then sitting around and not doing anything. I wish there was something to do other then sitting around all day.

I guess I should be happy to not having anything to do because next semester I'm working at least 17 hours a week plus I've got 4 really hard classes. I'm just hoping I can get through the semseter without having a nervous breakdown.
