I went and saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (and from now on it's going to be called just Joseph) and it was OMG! the best thing I've seen. I mean when I was in (back in 2006 with Starlight Productions) I liked the show. Then when I saw it in LA it was really good, but when I saw it here I was in awe. I loved the whole thing. I want to just sit there and watch it over and over again.
When Lee Mead (Joseph) comes out everyone in the audience cheered...Ok, pause for a the back story about Lee. If you remember the show from Spring 2007, Grease: You're the one That I want and you got to pick who the next Danny and Sandy were in Grease, well that's how Lee Mead got the part of Joseph. He was on Any Dream Will Do over in England and won the whole thing...anyway back to Lee Mead. He comes out on stage and everyone is going crazy cheering and clapping for the guy. This is the guy they picked to be Joseph, so it was a big deal to see him. And I see why they picked him as Joseph. He's great and totes cute. When he sang, Close Every Door I got goosebumps. He was that amazing.
The cast as a whole was great. The brothers were really funny and had their scene stealing moments. My favorite had to be when they were singing One More Angel in Heaven and their father, Jacob, leaves. They start to have a dance party, ho down style. I totally forgot about this part and found it quite funny. Plus the Children's Choir was really cute and the cast interacts with them, which I thought was cool.
The end of the show and bows is when they do Joseph Megamix, which is pretty much almost every song from the show in 10 minutes. I loved it and when Lee Mead came out again with the coat on, again, everyone went crazy and cheered and clapped. Lee Mead is so cute and humble about getting the part of Joseph. He seemed to me totally happy to get the part and is grateful for everything to do with the show.
I want to see it again for sure. It's now one of my favorite shows and I want to be in it again. If I see it again I don't know if I'll be able to forget the wonderful production from the West End in London.
